Jury Awards LAPD Officer Earl Wright $1.2 Million

According to this story in the Los Angeles Times, a jury awarded LAPD office Earl Wright a $1.2 million verdict today in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Officer Wright, an African-American, accused his supervisor, Sgt. Peter Foster, of racial harassment. Apparently much of the racial harassment consisted of “pranks” perpetuating stereotypes.

Officer Wright was represented quite ably by attorney Gregory Smith.

The LAPD only offered $10,000 to settle this suit, which was apparently a silly offer made by a department that is on a big losing streak.

Sounds like someone at LAPD needs to wake up and smell the coffee!
